Claire Angles
Speech and Language Therapist
My name’s Claire and I’m a speech and language therapist. I graduated from the University of Geneva in 2009 and practised for 10 years in a private clinic in the Pâquis district. During this time, I was also a member of the editing committee of the magazine Langage&Pratiques. Alongside my independent activities, I worked for nine years in a facility for children and adolescents with neuro-developmental problems and motor, sensory and cognitive impairments.
I have specialised in the assessment and care of infants and young children (0 to 4 years) presenting autism spectrum disorders (ASD), genetic disorders (such as Down’s syndrome and Angelman syndrome), severe developmental delay, feeding difficulties (such as oral motor problems, feeding tubes or PEGs), and language and communication difficulties.
At Centre qap I offer assessment and care for preschoolers and children of school age in the following areas:
- Problems with language development
- Language delays
- Communication and language delay in ASD
- Feeding difficulties
- Augmentative and Alternative Communication (AAC)
- Problems with written language acquisition: learning delay, dyslexia, dysorthography
- Problems with numbers (dyscalculia)and logical mathematical reasoning
Among the resources I use are tools such as Makaton, Prompt, PECS®, sign language and AAC.
Developing good relationships with a child, their parents and the various therapists in their network is crucial if support is to be successful. My therapy is founded on enjoyment and motivation, while fostering each child’s specific traits and individual strengths.
