Speech and Language Therapy

La logopédie est pratiquée par des logopédistes. Elle est liée à un champ d’expertises et de pratiques thérapeutiques spécialisées dans l’évaluation et le traitement Speech and language therapists are health professionals specialising in the assessment and treatment of:

– communication problems connected with the voice and articulation

– delay or trouble with spoken and written language

– difficulties swallowing food and drink, and bucco-facial motor disorders.

Speech and language therapists diagnose and evaluate the severity of difficulties and are responsible for establishing an effective therapeutic approach and overseeing the appropriate care plan.

Speech therapists work together with everyone involved in the child’s care (doctors, psychologists, parents and teachers).

Speech therapy is not covered by the LaMal system. For children domiciled in the canton of Geneva, therapy is reimbursed only by the Service de Pédagogie Spécialisée.
