Speech and language therapists are health professionals specialising in the assessment and treatment of:

• Communication challenges connected with the voice and articulation
• Spoken and written language problems
• Problems with swallowing food and drink
• Bucco-facial motor disorders.

Speech and language therapists identify the problems and are responsible for planning the best way to treat them, and carrying out the appropriate treatment. Speech therapists work together with all the people involved in the child’s care (doctors, psychologists, parents, and teachers).
